Earfun Free 2 – Unboxing

Unboxing

Compact Box

Textbook unboxing experience for Free 2, a typical small box with printed highlighted features and specs.

In the box, we have the earbuds, charging case, three pairs of exchangeable ear tips, user manual and the charging cable.

Appearance and Build Quality

Appearance

Beautiful Design

There is nothing extraordinary in terms of appearance and build quality. It is featuring an in the ear style with gold charging pads right along with the earpiece. Personally, I am not a fan of in the ear type, but if I have to choose one, I will go for Earfun Free 2.

Nothing special in the case as well. It has a matte black appearance with glossy insides. The case is wireless charging capable and provide a good amount of playback time on a charge.

Both the case and buds have plastic construction, and they are reasonably solid and provide outstanding performance. The only low-quality thing is the ear tips.

Earfun Free 2 – Sound Quality

It has 6mm drivers. The sound is clearly not studio-grade, but there’s dynamics, good feeling and a broad audio spectrum that you can feel. Emphasis is on the bass, while the low-end frequencies are a bit more evident than the rest. So, I think I can say they are optimized to listen to club music. The vocal part is somewhat off; maybe the high-end tones in certain conditions sound a little smashed. Overall, I can rate the audio being very good.

The crown jewel of the Free 2 is 60ms latency. So, there is no delay between the action and the sound in your ear. Low latency allows you to freely enjoy your games which were a bit difficult for wireless earbuds of this range.

The microphone is better than many. I can hear my sound loud and clear irrespective of echo due to the empty room.

SweatShield Technology

SweatShield

SweatShield Technology

Earfun Free 2 is entirely waterproof; it uses SweatShield technology instead of nano-coating that most manufacturers use. SweatShield ensures watertight seal even if you drop it in the water. According to Earfun, the buds can survive 30 minutes underwater.

Connectivity

Earfun Free 2 is working with Bluetooth 5.2. The exceptional buds have an extensive 15m range, but walls and other obstacles might reduce it.

Earfun Free 2 – Battery

The battery of Free 2 is incredible; each bud has a 50mAh battery while the charging case has 400mAh. It has quick charge technology; 10mins of charge will give you 2hours of playback time.

On a full charge, the buds can work for 7 hours continuously. But I have tested the battery life, and it was around 5 hours which is still pretty good. Moreover, the case can enable them to work for 30hours with multiple charges.

Earfun Free 2 – Drawbacks

Drawbacks

Drawbacks

There are a couple of missing things; that can have a very good effect on the quality of the earbuds.

Here are the drawbacks of Earfun Free 2.

  • Weak ear tips.
  • No smartphone app to fine-tune the sound.
  • Too Bassy sound.

Verdict

So, in the end, it is really good for the price. APTX is a massive advantage. However, others have a better sense to pair it with larger speakers. But Good quality, good features, true waterproofness, great fit for sports and very decent battery life makes the Free2 popular. I think Earfun has just released another great set of earbuds.

More great earbuds here.
