Amazfit GTS 3 Smartwatch Review: All about the New Generation & Features
Amazfit GTS 3; a new generation with new features and vision. The generation was known for its remarkable battery life, endurance, and premium feel.
Let’s inspect if Amazfit has retained them while enhancing the features and performance.
Overview
In a hurry, read this short overview stating the pros and cons of Amazfit GTS 3.
Pros
- Considerable improvement in software.
- Thin and lightweight.
- Solid aluminium and glass construction.
- Beautiful and bright screen.
- Mobile app is quite good.
- 150 sport modes.
- Accurate GPS tracking.
Cons
- Satisfactory battery endurance.
- No, navigation app like Google Maps.
- No quick response.
- Slow update.
Price
Amazfit has two main watch series, GTR and GTS. GTR is like a premium product, while GTS lies in a budget smartwatch category.
GTS 3 is priced at 179$ or 150 euros in Europe same as the GTS 2.
The price is quite attractive, but there is a lot of competition in the 100$ to 200$ range. So, GTS 3 has to perform greatly to win.
Unboxing
Great packages have always been a trademark of Amazfit devices, and GTS 3 carries the tradition. The box has a modern design and appearance with the Zepp OS branding on top. Zepp has been powering the Amazfit devices since the start, and now it is acquired by Huami, the creator of Amazfit watches.
In the box, I got the Terra Rosa GTS 3 with a charging dock and user guide.
Appearance and Build Quality
The watch has the previous generation’s sleek design and premium finish, which is quite good. It has three colour options ivory white, terra rosa and graphite black. I have the second one, and it is pretty great. Despite the sensors bump at the bottom, the GTS 3 is relatively thin and lightweight. Moreover, the top glass is slightly curved, adding to the sleek design aesthetic.
The build quality is supreme; it is made from aircraft-grade aluminium that provides strength while keeping the weight down. The protective glass has a coating to eliminate fingerprints. It is not excellent but eliminates about 80% to 90% of them.
Amazfit GTS 3 has one physical button. Single press to select, and the long press is programmable. The rotation of the crown button is useless; it does not have any impact on the navigation.

Features
GTS 3 has improved significantly on the software side, but there are a couple of downgrades on the hardware side from the previous generation. Other than that, it is a feature-packed smartwatch with a sleek and beautiful design.
The best feature of the GTS 3 is the screen. The 1.75 inches screen covers 72% body of the watch and has a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The bright screen is colour accurate and beautiful.
Zepp OS has improved significantly; there is no missing frame, and swiping & scrolling feels buttery smooth. Moreover, Amazfit provides enough tutorials and information to assist the new users.
The watch provides detailed HR tracking data, and SpO2 tracking is now automatic. Further, we can see several new apps like the calendar, task list etc. Along with these apps, you can now download 3rd party apps from the Zepp mobile app. The number and variety of apps are limited, but it is destined to improve in future.
Alexa is the assistant in the Amazfit GTS 3, but it is available in very few countries. Moreover, the variety of sport modes is huge, and it automatically detects some everyday workouts. It has 150 sport modes making it suitable for every athlete.
GTS 3 can also receive messages, but there is no quick response option.
Performance
As mentioned, Amazfit has some significant upgrades and addition in the software, providing us with accurate and comprehensive health information and performance.
HR tracking is fairly better now; like most smartwatches, it automatically measures the heart rate and provides detailed charts with recommendations. Moreover, better heart rate tracking allows GTS 3 to have precise and better sleep tracking information.
The SpO2 tracking is pretty good. It is now automatic as well.
Amazfit GTS 3 has 150 sport modes, and it automatically recognizes eight modes. Moreover, a new feature allows us to get data like recovery time training load, oxygen uptake and training effect.
Amazfit GTS 3 has the best GPS. In previous generations, the reading was considerably off of the actual path. But this watch has one of the best GPS modules in smartwatches these days. Despite having a great GPS, I cannot monitor the tracks on our smartwatch because there’s no app to do that.
Other than that, it can measure many metrics like stress, female cycle, PAI and much more.
Battery performance is respectable. With always-on display, I was able to get around 4 days and 10 days without always-on display.
Mobile App
Zepp app is among the best companion app for smartwatches. The app presents loads of data and insights to motivate us for a healthier life.
The AI analyzes health and provides credible insights and recommendations on improving the quality of life.
The app has an extensive gallery of watchfaces, and for the first time, the Zepp has an App Store to install third-party apps on the smartwatch. The store does not have many apps, but the handy addition puts the watch against the big names.
Drawbacks
Amazfit GTS 3 is an excellent smartwatch, it checks all the boxes of a good budget smartwatch, but there are some things that Huami can include to improve the functionality.
- It does not have a navigation app.
- Speakers are removed.
- No in-built storage.
- No quick replies.
Summary
I think Amazfit has tried to be practical with hardware, which some of you may consider a slight downgrade, but the advances in software are remarkable. Hopefully, soon, Zepp OS will be able to challenge even WearOS in terms of functions. I guess only time can show.
