MECOOL KM7 Plus – Price
MECOOL KM 7 Plus has an unbelievable price of just 79$. The excellent TV Box competes against some classy products like MI Box S, Xiaomi and Realme TV stick, and Google Chromecast.
MECOOL KM7 Plus – Unboxing
MECOOL has never been very good at product presentation. Their products arrive in a standard box with a sleeve around them highlighting the features of the products. Inside the sleeve is a cardboard box housing all the essential items.
We have the power adapter, HDMI cable, remote, user manual, and MECOOL KM7 Plus in the box.
Appearance and Build Quality
Out of the box, the TV box has a lovely black and white design. It looks good; it has all the essential ports and LED indicators, along with a MECOOL logo on top.
The fresh appearance looks pretty good. The port selection is good on the back. We have S/PDIF, AV connector, HDMI, ethernet, and power port; on the side, there are 2 USB Type-A and a microSD Card slot. The port selection is great, but I would have loved to see at least one Type-C port. On the other side, an AV port is a valuable addition as it allows the TVs with analog input to run the Google TV. Lastly, we also have two LEDs and an IR sensor upfront.

MECOOL KM7 Plus – Features
MECOOL KM7 Plus has got quite better than the one that was released a year ago. One of the most prominent inclusions was Netflix. It was the top reason for people not buying the MECOOL. But now it has the certification and a proper dedicated button on the remote. It also has the usual Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, YouTube, and many more.
The jump from DDR3 to DDR4 is also substantial considering the massive impact it has on the performance of the TV box. Yes, the RAM is limited to 2GB, but the generational impact is still quite visible in the performance.
Lastly, the storage is also pretty good. It has 16GB internal storage along with a microSD card slot. Moreover, with Google Chromecast, you can stream through your mobile phone using the built-in Bluetooth 4.2. MECOOOL KM7 Plus also has Google Assistant Built-in.
For flawless media streaming, MOL KM7 Plus supports all the popular video compression formats and codes, including AV1 and h265, which is good if you plan to stream a lot of content.
MECOOL KM7 Plus – Performance
Initial setup is easy; if you are having any difficulty, you can use the handy user manual. This time it has a lot of useful information, unlike the previous generation. After setup, turn on the box and use the Google account to log in. The TV box will automatically download all the necessary apps and systems before bootup to save you from every inconvenience.
On the main screen, you will see a new, revamped interface of Google TV 11. The launcher looks like a very big wallpaper full of ads which is the live preview of services that you are subscribed to. The settings are good, and unique content distribution and options are easy to get used to.
The app launcher is good. There are no visible stuttering or skipped animations, and everything works smoothly, which is good for a budget TV Box. The video playbacks are also great; everything works absolutely fine even 4K 60FPS on YouTube are a pleasure to watch; the box does a great job, and there is never a performance degradation.
The gaming is also not bad, considering it has 2GB RAM and a mediocre CPU; the gaming has been pretty good. You will need a separate controller and will have to download the game through the Play Store. In addition to the excellent and smooth gaming experience, the MECOOL KM7 Plus is also good at heat dissipation. After 20 minutes of gaming, there is no sign of heat.
Drawbacks
- RAM is limited to only 4GB
- No USB Type-C Port
- Outdated Bluetooth Gen
Conclusion
That’s all about the MECOOL KM7 Plus. If you are looking for an amazingly powerful processor, loads of RAM, and an expensive game console alternative, then this TV box is not it. It is a good-performing Google TV Box with all the essential certifications for a proper multimedia experience. It can also handle light gaming, and with regular software updates, we can expect a solid and long-lasting performance. But in the next generation, I would love to see some hardware upgrades to meet modern needs in a better way.
